LinkedIn Will Train Its AI on Your Profile

When it Starts

That thing most of us assumed was already happening (and maybe it already was) is happening: LinkedIn will start using members’ profiles to train its AI. The company announced that this will begin on November 3, 2025, and that, by default, members will be automatically enrolled. 

Will LinkedIn Sell Data?

LinkedIn’s generative AI uses third-party models, so take that how you will. Models provided “may” include Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI services.

According to the LinkedIn Help FAQ page as of October 8, 2025, “Where LinkedIn controls the input for a generative AI-powered feature, depending on the feature, we may process your personal data. For example, if you choose to use “Profile Writing Suggestions,” we will use (or process) the relevant data on your profile to generate the suggested text, which you can then review, edit, and decide whether to add to your profile.” Another example they include is about sharing data with “hirers” to “see how you match their job qualifications.”

Opting Out

While it would’ve been lovely had LinkedIn made this setting something you could opt into, they chose to opt us all in by default. Go to the LinkedIn Data for Generative AI Improvement member setting and toggle it off. 

As you can see, I’ve turned mine off. Our data is already all over the internet, but whenever I can help it, I put up blockades for corporations trying to grab any more of it.
