Get to Know Us

It Takes a Small Village

I’m Erin Lamb, a web designer, content writer, SEO strategist, and digital marketer based in Des Moines, Iowa. If we work together, we’ll get to know each other pretty well, but there’s also a small, talented village behind me you might get to know, too. My husband, Mike, sometimes assists with accounting behind the scenes, and my developer, Laura, handles some web development. I also have a tight circle of friends and former colleagues I’m happy to recommend if you’re looking for photography, videography, and graphic design.

My Background

Erin Lamb (she/her)

Owner | Web Designer, Content Writer, Digital Marketer

While I’m based in the Midwest, I have clients throughout the country. In the 10+ years in marketing, I’ve worked with multinational corporations, small businesses, and everything in between. I quickly realized I wanted to focus on helping small businesses, artists, and nonprofits level up their marketing efforts with beautiful websites and realistic digital marketing strategies.

My Experience

When I was 18, I started working in radio at a national station. In seven years, I went from promotions to production and on-air work. I ended up going back to college for my degree in marketing, eventually working for a mid-sized agency in the Midwest. I was initially hired to handle internal marketing, then moved to the digital marketing department, where I led campaigns for local businesses. It was in this role that I realized how much I love researching and writing long-form content and I transitioned to a content and digital marketing strategist role. To put it simply, this meant I wrote content for websites while continuing to handle digital marketing campaigns. The website team was so small that I ended up learning a lot about web design as a way to help projects move along more efficiently.

Heading Off on My Own

During my time at the agency, I noticed that small business owners, artists, and nonprofits often couldn’t afford to have an agency build a cool and functional website backed by a realistic marketing strategy. Those also happened to be my favorite clients, but I rarely got to work with them because of that budget. With the overhead of a bigger agency, it didn’t make financial sense to work with smaller businesses. I knew that I could do all of those things because I’d been doing them already for years. Cut to February 2020, when I took the plunge. I set up my business, gave the agency notice, and set out on my own just as the pandemic was about to hit. Nothing but the best timing over here! Several years later, though, I can say without a doubt that I made the right move. Bonus: I get to choose who to work with now!

The Green Ivy Creative Philosophy

Each time we support a small business owner, artist, or non-profit, we support a dream. It sounds cheesy but it’s true. These folks help strengthen the communities they call home and enrich the lives of those they meet because they have a personal connection with their customers, fans, and clients. This is why it’s important that they have strong digital presence and that means a cute website that’s easy to navigate and a digital marketing strategy that makes sense.

Behind the Name

When I was thinking about names for the business, I wanted to include my favorite color and one of my all-time favorite plants. I’m big on symbolism, too. The color green stands for growth, freshness, and harmony. Ivy can flourish even in the harshest environments and represents loyalty and fidelity. These are all things I want for our clients: strength, growth, and sustainability even in lean times.
