Project Spotlight
Marguerite FarmsThe Project
Marguerite Farms grows, cuts, and arranges flowers on their farm just south of Des Moines, Iowa, and needed a website that would let customers order arrangements and bouquets, schedule subscriptions, sign up for classes, and book private event flowers. The owner, Nicole, also often brings her flowers to local markets, so a spot where events could be listed was also on the to-do list.

Website Goals
Clearly Showcase Services & Products
Customers of Marguerite Farms have several ways of enjoying the flowers, from bouquets and arrangements to wedding and private event florals. We clarify early and often how to bring these fresh blooms into a home, business, or event.
Bring in E-Commerce
Perhaps the most important portion of the site is the shop. This was built using WooCommerce and allows site visitors to order flowers for pickup or delivery. Folks can also buy a flower arranging class in the shop. The classes are fun ways to learn more about flowers while getting together with loved ones—plus, attendees get to take home their arrangements!
Welcome to a Parisian Apothecary
During our initial conversation, Nicole mentioned that she wanted the site to feel like a lush, Parisian apothecary and that she prefers a cozier aesthetic. I said, “Like the ‘Practical Magic’ kitchen?” She agreed and that witchy, welcoming, soft, and a little wild vibe lit the way for the entire design process.
Technical Stuff
Make Navigation Easy
Site users have more than one way to find the service or product they need on this site. For instance, if someone was looking for information on classes, they could get to that page through the main menu, on the homepage, or the “Private Events & Subscriptions” page. This helps site visitors find what they’re looking for quickly, cutting back on confusion.
Hand it Over
Since Nicole will be updating the website (especially the shop), transitioning from site build and launch to an actively up-and-running website as seamlessly as possible was top of mind. Training documents, including video walk-throughs, were sent over once the site was live and she was adding new products within the first week!
