All About Green Ivy Creative

Hi! I'm Erin.

Erin Lamb

(she/her)

If you’ve made it this far, you probably want to get to know me a little better before reaching out. I do the same thing, so welcome! First things first: I’m a web designer, content writer, SEO strategist, and digital marketer based in Des Moines, Iowa. While I live in the Midwest, I happily work with clients throughout the country.

My History

I worked for a national radio station in Des Moines for the 7 years following high school and loved it, but wanted something different. So I went back to college and got my marketing degree. I then worked for several years as a content and digital marketing strategist for a web design and marketing agency in the area. Our website team was small and I ended up learning a ton about web design to help move projects along. The two folks who were cool enough to teach me while we worked together years ago are now on my team as freelance developers.

Starting the Business

During my time at the agency, I noticed that a major barrier for small business owners, nonprofits, and artists was budget. They often couldn’t afford to have an agency build a cool and functional website backed by a solid content and SEO strategy, then a thoughtful digital marketing campaign. I put together a business plan for myself and realized I could work with the clients I enjoyed the most and give them the work they deserved, thanks to my low overhead and expertise in all things web design and marketing.  In early 2020 (great timing, I know), I took the plunge. I set up the business, gave my notice, and set out on my own. Six years later, I can say without a doubt that I made the right move.

My Web Development Team

I mentioned them before, but I partner with two talented freelance developers on all WordPress website projects. We’ve worked together for a decade and I’ve watched them solve even the most challenging issues.

Behind the Name

I’m big on symbolism and my favorite color is green (also a big fan of purple) and ivy is one of my favorite plants. As it turns out, the color green stands for growth, freshness, and harmony. Ivy can flourish even in the harshest conditions and represents loyalty and fidelity. These are all things I want for my clients: growth, harmony, and sustainability.

Caring About the Craft

The content (written words and media) on a website is intensely important. It helps set the tone by showing off your personality through the written word and can help people find you organically in search engine queries. It requires a deep understanding of your audience and user intent because once folks make it to your website, they’ll want to be able to find what they’re looking for easily. Each website I design and develop includes content and SEO strategy written by me, a human, and not generated by a robot.

I love writing and designing. I’ve done it for as long as I’ve been able to hold a pencil. It’s my policy to not use generative AI in my websites. While I may need to rely on stock image libraries and some may slip through the cracks, it’s never my intent. This includes not editing content generated by any potential client.

My Philosophy

Each time we support a small business owner, artist, or nonprofit, we support a dream. As a small business owner and artist (not professionally), I know how it feels to be passionate about something and turn it into something you share with others. We strengthen the communities we call home and enrich the lives of the people we meet because we have a personal connection with our customers and supporters. This is why I love working with clients who spend their lives doing something they believe in deeply.
